In this episode of FAQ with AGIQ, I'm going to talk about some of the hidden advantages of unitary equipment, some of the things that you might not be considering, but that are important for your facility.

When you're choosing HVAC equipment for a cultivation space, you have largely three choices unitary equipment, that is, equipment that dehumidifies as well as heating and cooling. So, one system that handles the entire space load.

You've got a custom designed system, and that's going to typically be something like a four-pipe chilled water system. And then you've got a decoupled system where you've got air conditioners and dehumidifiers that are two separate pieces of equipment that work together to manage your space. Some of the big advantages of unitary in having a single piece of equipment controlling your space means that, by definition, you have a single piece of equipment to control.

It's a very simple thing to implement from a control’s perspective, from an integration with building automation, and from ensuring that you have a homogenous and universal temperature in your space.

The other nice part about unitary equipment is they're very easy to stage out, particularly with the state of the industry at the moment. With depressed flower prices and a really tough equity market, being able to stage your facility out in a way that that makes sense for you and build a couple of rooms at a time is a huge advantage of unitary over something like a four-pipe chilled water system, where your central plant has to be sized for the entirety of your building. Basically from day one.

Those are only a couple of the advantages of unitary. There are a number more, and if you'd like to know more invites you to get in touch with us.
