Greenhouses vs.Vertical Farms

In this episode of Quick HVAC Tips for Vertical Farming, we'll touch on the difference between greenhouse and vertical farm HVAC systems.

Episode Transcription:
Hi everybody. I'm Jeff Baylis, from AGronomic IQ, and today I want to talk to you about the difference between greenhouse and vertical farm HVAC.  In vertical farms, farmers are targeting total control through lights on and lights off, through mechanical means. Where in a greenhouse, they have almost twice as much light energy entering the space as vertical farms, so it can't be done solely by mechanical means.

When your blinds are closed, you can have total control with an appropriate HVAC selection. When your blinds are open, you're going to need to vent outdoor air, as well as supplement cooling and dehumidification with your air handler, providing process air directly under the plants.
